Alfred Goldman, Past President of the OM Club, died on 9th September 2010 MORE

Alan Woollaston (Winterstoke 1945-50)

Alan Keith Woollaston died in July 2010 at the age of 78 and was at Mill Hill from 1945-50. MORE

Old Millhillians will be sad to learn of the death of two former teachers and long-term servants of the School. MORE

Keith Thomas (Winterstoke 1949-54)

Michael Robert James Thomas 74, died on Tuesday 30th March 2010. He was born on Monday 16th December 1935 to Robert Leslie Thomas and Dorothy Alice Thomas (nee Saunders). Michael is survived by his wife Joan, his brother Keith, his sister Anne, his daughter Joanne, his son Mark, his grand-daughter Cher-Leigh and his grand-son Dominic. MORE

Peter Parr (Weymouth 1933-39)

Peter Parr died on 21st May 2010 after a short illness just two weeks before his 90th birthday. He was in School House (Weymouth) during the Headmasterships of Maurice Jacks and T.K.Derry. MORE

Denis Compston (Ridgeway 1927-30)

Denis Compston who died at the age of 96 on 23rd February 2010 was, with his brother Tym, the second generation of the four generations of Compstons who have attended Mill Hill. MORE

Tom Jourdan (Ridgeway 1958-62)

Tom was born on the 20th August 1944 in the Cresswell Coombe Maternity Hospital in Dumfries Scotland. Soon after Tom was born the family moved to High Wycombe where Tom’s Father joined his father in Law and brother in Law at Parker Knoll. MORE

Rupert Cherry (Collinson 1923-26)

CENTENARIAN JOURNALIST. A sports writer who spent many years covering rugby union for The Daily Telegraph, he was born in London on April 18, 1909, and educated at Mill Hill. MORE

Stephen Ruhemann (Winterstoke 1945-50)

Stephen Ruhemann, Mill Hill School's first Communist Senior Monitor died on 11 February 2009, following a battle with cancer. MORE

David Hudgell (Winterstoke 50 -54)

With the death of David on 22nd October 2009, we sadly lose not only a great Middlesex man but also an immense character, friend and supporter. He will be sadly missed and, really, he is irreplaceable. MORE

John Williams (Burton Bank 45-49)

The Club was saddened by the news that former England,
Barbarians and British & Irish Lions scrum half John Williams passed away

H E Beven ( Jimmy) 1911 – 2009 MHS 25-29

Jimmy was born at Tangalle in Sri Lanka on 23rd February 1911. His father, Alan Bevan, was a judge in what was then known as Ceylon, where the family lived. At the end of world war 1, at the age of seven, Jimmy left Ceylon and his father brought him to England to go to Lindisfarne prep school. At the age of 13 he went to Mill Hill School where he was one of the first intake into the new Winterstoke House and he was somewhat sad when Winterstoke became Grimsdell ! Jimmy was a good all round sportsman. MORE

Allan Prosser-Harries Obituary

Allan Prosser-Harries died on 29th May 2008, he came to Mill Hill in 1958 and stayed until his retirement in 1993. During this time he was Head of Geography and Geology as well as a Housemaster of McClure. MORE

Derek Sigley (M 52-55)

Derek was a stalwart of the OM Golfing Society for many years, was captain in 1964 and was a Vice-President. MORE

A.S. Bell (1948-52)

Tony Bell arrived in Collinson House in September 1948 having lived for previous three years in Switzerland, and demonstrated immediately a characteristic which would be his hallmark for the next sixty years – enthusiasm. MORE

Alan Bird 1922 – 2008 (MHS 1935 – 1940)

Alan Bird was the elder of two brothers from Chesterfield who attended Mill Hill School in the late 1930’s. MORE

Donald Trounson (Collinson’23)

Donald Trounson, who died at the age of 103 on 29th January 2009, was the son of a provisions merchant, Alfred Donald Trounson and was born on September 30 1905 at Redruth, Cornwall. MORE

Graeme Warren-Thomas 1948-2008 (MHS 1961-1966)

Graeme passed away suddenly on 20th June 2008. He will be much missed by his children Guy and Cecelia and brothers Nigel and Simon. MORE

Martin Meade-King

I came to Mill Hill in 1948 from university and was given a study and bedroom in School House.  Martin, who was at Mill Hill from 1938-1955, taught History and was Housemaster when I joined Alan Phimester as one of his assistants. MORE

Oliver Knowles: soldier, colonial administrator and civil servant

Oliver Knowles was one of the last of a distinguished and able generation of public servants who administered Britain’s East African colonies through the birth throes of independence. MORE

Colonel Keith Douglas Calder. TD*. DL., LDS(Dunelm), late RADC (V). (Burton Bank 45-49)

In 1945, the year that Mill Hill returned from its wartime St Bee’s exile, Keith Calder joined the new  Burton Bank intake. Life was hard in those days for the mixed bag of Prep School and Middlesex Scheme boys, particularly that first year in BB. MORE

Peter Hamilton Gray (Collinson 42-46)

We are sad to record the death Peter Hamilton Gray, who was the last Chairman of the OM St.Bees Association,  having taken over the role from Gordon Wren. MORE

Richard Stringer (School House 52-57)

Richard entered School House (Scrutton) in 1952 and, being born in September, was one of the last batch to be eligible for National Service. MORE
